Dont want to clog the Liveatc thread up with questions, so thought I'd ask here.

Was discussing what LIPGO, LAPMO, SORIN were and gratefully told they are holding areas - lots of use tonight because of the weather.

Question is, if ATC direct a pilot to hold at say SORIN, would the pilot know where SORIN is ? do they have to grab charts or can they programme into the computer and that does the work

I asked this a while back in the ask a pilot thread. The holds are automatically programmed into the FMS.

When 28 is in use its usually SORIN and KERAV for holds, depending on the initial waypoint in the route, usually one of them is included in the STAR, so one of the pilots would simply select that point and select HOLD.

And before executing the hold a quick crosscheck Jeppy to fmc to ensure the hold is coded correctly :)
