breaking news on Sky now, Helicopter down in Gillingham and emergency services at the scene.

would that be one of those that service oil rigs?

Doubt it, Gillingham in Norfolk is right on the Suffolk border and too far inland for a rig chopper. Most of those take off and land at the airport in Norwich which is north of there

apparently Beccles airfield is only a few minutes away and this services oil/gas rigs. reason i asked is because i spotted a chopper in that area last night.

sky saying unconfirmed reports of fatalities. chopper is an AgustaWestland, so there could be many people on board.

Its very close to Beccles, I lived close by for many years, but I hadn't realised they used it for rig flights - I stand corrected

Hearing aircraft in question might frequent these parts, I hope that turns out not to be the case.

There's very heavy fog visible on the sky news report, could be a factor. 4 people confirmed dead.

Just spoke to family living close by - been quite heavy fog & the helicopter has come down in woodland

awful news that 4 people are dead, the day that the verdict is released into the death of 16 people involving a helicopter crash.

able to shed more light on this?

when you say these parts, i assume you mean Dublin? wouldn't it be a bit too much of a trek to regularly do trips from there to Dublin?

Don't want to say anymore at the mo. Looking like it will be confirmed unfortunately. From outside Dublin, these parts = Ireland .

this is miles and miles away from Cheltenham though:confused::confused: unless of course it had served its purpose for the day and was doing another run.

They put 2 and 2 together. He lives in the area. He runs a company in Northern Ireland. The helicopter was travelling to NI. He's incredibly wealthy, usually only wealthy people travel in civilian helicopters. I think it's a fair assumption.

    RIP all involved.

Wasnt there a crash involving a Sikorsky S 76 , perhaps 15-20 years ago in the Mourne Mountains ? I think that helicopter was owned by Mr Haughey who was killed in the crash last night
