Anyone know of any Irish bike shops that stock these? I'm based in Navan.

I ended up buying one on eBay.

Think I'll probably end up doing the same. Checked my local shops and no joy.

It's a great piece of kit, I've two tubes, tyre levers, co2 pump and a spare canister plus my crank bros multi tool in mine.

Yeah it looks good. The bike set up looks neater without the saddlebag I think. Need to go back to the bag though if on a long spin and need 2 water bottles.

    Agree on both points.

Why not just use and old bottle !

I was going to suggest just cutting off the top of an old bottle, but they're not as expensive as I expected.

    Ribble have them: http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-track-bike/tools-bbb-tools-tubes-bottle/bbbatool201

I found the lid too loose, so I lost it ( and someone else found it)
I have been using a wide neck bottle ever since, and that is also secured to the frame using a velcro strap. Brilliant! (mtb usage)

If getting one, I'd recommend the large size.

V handy for a quick swap between bikes.

I use an old bottle and it works fine. The only thing is the rattle of the tools inside the bottle. Maybe this BBB one has sound proofing inside

Stick a lightweight rain jacket in there. If it rains you won't care about the rattling.

Use a wet wipe tub. Thwy fit in the holder and tge lid is secure.

old hi-5 bottle works fine for me. cut the top off and overlap it and a bit insulating tape and bobs-yer-mothers-brother. Can't see the point in shelling out actual cash for a fancy version of something we all have dozens of at this stage - and if you don't have dozens, head off to an a4 race and hang around 500m from the finish and you'll get a dozen easy.

    Fair point kenmc.

actually just had another idea - if you don't use a clear bottle no-one will know that it's not just a water bottle, whereas if you have one of those tool bottle ones, there's a chance (small, hopefully, miniscule even) that someone at a coffeestop or foodstop on a sportive or whatever will identify it and nick it in the hopes there's something useful inside, or a "get-me-home-€20", but no-one really wants a half-bottle of energy drink.

Does anyone bring a spare tyre with them. I had a new tyre and tube blowout not to long ago. Had no way to fix it so needed to ring home.

I bring part of a spare tyre with me if that counts ;) It has plugged a blowout before.

I carry a folding spare tyre on long distance rides where I've no support. On the commute, it depends on whether I bothered to take it off the bike from the last long spin...

I bring a section of tyre about 15cm long to use as a boot ; I haven't had to test it so far

Put all the tools in and any gaps for potential rattles I stuff with tissue/news paper. ;)

Fill the gaps with J cloths. stops tools rattling. You can wipe your dirty tyres when you get a puncture and your hands when finished changing a tube.
