Goats milk !!!

    Anyone have information on milking goats or no anybody doing it ??

    Glenisk does most of the processing of goats milk, there's a few smaller processors but none of them are in the market for suppliers at the moment.

    Not sure they are still up and running but these used to do milk, yogurt, ice cream etc all from goats milk.

    There could also be goat farmers local to you, that may sell you a few liters.
    Know of ones got it when their children were young

    They are local to me, only 5 mile away :)

    We still just used Glenisk for our little girl till she was 3 and then cows milk from then on.

    Happy days.
    But I do know local produce is not well promoted, eg honey, goats milk etc

    Are the goats grazed outdoors or full time inside .....wonder what ones stocking rate per hectare would be ? And what milk price is ?

    Most commercial milking flocks are housed all year round as they do not like adverse weather.Are you thinking of starting a flock?

    google the teagasc fact sheet, not completely up todate:rolleyes: but it would some reference to your questions. Then ring the lad in teagasc that oversees this enterprise Cian Condon. and unless thing have changed ........a lot just let say you wont be getting funding from a bank:D. You can wor.kout the rest
