Headphone Jack issue

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but it's an issue on the build I got from HWVS a couple of weeks ago... an odd one.

I get really low, hissy audio from the front headphone jack on youtube, windows media player and that sort of thing. But I can play the test tone in the playback devices properties with no issue, sounds perfect.

I've a pair of Sennheiser 201s plugged in, they're working fine. The back headphone jack gives me normal audio. I have the latest realtek driver for the mobo (asrock b85m pro4) installed. No idea how to sort it out, so any advice would be welcome!

I had a similar noise (static sound) from the front headphone jack on a Thermaltake V9. Turned out to be the USB ports that are on that front panel as well. Everytime I had something plugged in the USB ports I could hear the static/hiss noise in the headphones. Tried a couple of remedies suggested by google but in the end I had to live with it.

Just tried that, no change. :( It's not static sound, just really low volume audio, with some extra hiss.

Have a rubbish front audio port on a Zalman T2. Have to use rear port.

I thought it was just that, but test audio is playing normally, at full volume, and that 'ding' sound when I can't click or mess with the volume bar plays properly as well. It's only when there's audio in a video/music file or online that it's low. It's one of those things that'll drive me mad, there must be a solution, but I may never find it!

Well I've half figured it out. If I put pressure on the jack it comes through fine, but once I let go it sounds low again. Guess there's something loose in there. Gonna give fractal design a shout about it now.

You have tried another headset? Or that headset on your phone or something? Sry didn't read all posts .

I only ask because usually that is what happens, when the Jack lead is actually going on a headset.

Ah yeah tried a few, it's definitely the audio jack.
