synaps thd 2856 + no signal

    Set up a synaps thd 2856+ in the kitchen (brought it in ireland before I moved to poland), having a strange problem with it.
    The receiver is showing no signal on any channel freq (here it is 34, 36& 43). Can't scan any channels in what so ever. Its not a signal (aerial fault) as my ariva combo works perfect on the connection.
    This morning I had a little success by installing the earliest firmware available and it scanned in all 23 dvb t channels.
    But now if you go into standby it freezes (locks up).
    I notice on the synaps website in firmware upgrades the zip file contains 2 versions, 1 version not to be used with certain serial numbers and a more general version.
    I'm not trying the firmware that isn't to be installed with my serial number, but the 1 that's meant to work is showing no signal!
    Any idea what would happen if I tried the other version of the firmware on my box?
