Some crazy people out there :(

    http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-26563326

A woman who killed her pet kitten by cooking it in a microwave because she thought it had attacked her goldfish has been jailed for 14 weeks.

She'll have to replace the microwave when she gets out as well.

Some properly cruel people in the world.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,798 ✭✭✭✭hatrickpatrick

What's really f*cked up about this is that if she wanted to "execute" her cat there are a lot of ways she could have done it, putting it into the microwave means she specifically intended to cause as much pain as possible. That's just utterly psychotic.

Maybe she was investigating quantum mechanics?

Woman kills kitten for being cat. What a nutjob. Probably should be put away for longer for public protection, there's clearly some terrifying loose screws there.

    That poor, poor cat.
I can't abide cruelty to animals in any shape or form

God I shouldn't have clicked this thread

Sealed box, with radioactive material and flask of acid, not microwave oven. Schrödinger was quite clear on that.

She has severe mental health problems, waste of time jailing her.

Get her into a psychiatric hospital.

14 WEEKS???? And then she's going to be at large in society again... f**K that. she is obviously a sociopath and should be treated accordingly.

Hate stories like this. Hope that woman has an awful time in prison.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,798 ✭✭✭Mr. Incognito

That's awful- Waste of a good microwave too.

Hang on though- Why is a person with such mental health problems allowed to use that as an excuse. She knew that she was "punishing" the kitty. She knew it was wrong. No sympathy

    RIP Kitty.

    You're not funny.

Scummy woman, glad she got time in prison. Would have been much better if it was longer though.

"longstanding problems with psychotic depression and had been sectioned under the Mental Health Act 20 times."

The main thing I get from this story is that this woman clearly needs better help. It's awful that she did this to the kitten, but she's clearly not in any state to be without supervision.

    Sick twisted bítch

I hope they bunk her in with the ultimate Crazy Cat Lady!!!!

Poor cat but this lady obviously needs help and jailing her seems pointless.

I wonder how anybody found out about it too?

I don't like cats. At all.

But I despise things (wouldn't even call them human) that inflict suffering like that.

14 weeks is nothing that women needs to be put in a mental hospital

Despicable and disgusting thing to do to a poor, defenceless animal. This woman must have mental health issues.

I don't like cats. At all.

Why even mention that? Do you want a medal for feeling compassion for a living creature that was tortured to death?

You should feel this way as any normal person would.

If she has mental problems she should be sent to a psychiatric hospital or something. Once her sentence is finished, they should do just that.

    RIP Unknown Pussy Cat

    Nobody said they were?
She knew that she was "punishing" the kitty. She knew it was wrong. No sympathy
Was "Have sympathy for her" said somewhere? Mental illness doesn't stop a person from knowing what's right and wrong, but if it's the cause of such behaviour, then it's the cause of such behaviour.
Mentioning that she's mentally ill is just providing information - it doesn't excuse her whatsoever.

Sadly that case is just the tip of the iceberg of truly sick individuals that enjoy torturing animals, cats in particular. With the level of sectioning that the woman has, she clearly needs to be in a secure psychiatric unit, she can't possibly be suitable as a care in the community case.

I don't know how I put that smilie thing in, can't get it off now.

I wonder would it taste like chicken..
I had dog once in a stew and it was shockingly disappointing..

Very strange and sadistic behaviour, banning her from every looking after animals makes a lot of sense. However, I doubt it's likely to be enforceable.

Poor cat - absolutely horrible way to go.

I think how people treat animals says a lot about them.

I wonder how many people here condemning this eat meat on a daily basis.

I wonder how many people here condemning this eat meat on a daily basis.

They don't slaughter it using a microwave.

She basically half-cooked the kitten and it died of its injuries. That's unbelievably nasty and must have been absolutely agonising for the poor cat.

Cats are pretty intelligent animals and absolutely feel pain.

Probably almost as many as all the cats, dogs, lions, orcas, snakes and other non-sanctimonious or self-righteous creatures do.

Maybe she was seeing if the old 9 lives thing was true? If you're warped enough to put a kitty in a microwave...

Microwaved a kitten!?!?! FFS - can't describe how disgusting that is

Thankfully if the internet has proven anything it is that majority of us loves kittens

To paraphrase The IT Crowd - "The internet is out to get her now"

Mr Greaves said his client had stopped taking her medication because ‘the Queen had told her not to’.

I was polishing my pitchfork till i read that, jail is not suitable, life ban and supervision is.

I know of a workplace where a guy died of microwave exposure.. He was working on a machine with a microwave source which was incorrectly shielded.. He collapsed in awful pain and died within hours.. I wasn't there but know a chap who was present.

I remember a very similar case in Germany years ago what a sick sick person. She too should be put in a large microwave for a while and see what it's like..
