Front door - lock options - experiences?

    Hi all -

We are currently picking out front door for our self build - we wanted to go for something contemporary like the following:

    wm_s1000xModern%20Timber%20Front%20Door%20Kloeber%20FunkyFront.jpg

However - the company have queried the pull bar design and would prefer a lever style handle as this would enable a better locking system (5 point?) compared to the single key used. On this - how many points would the system above give?

Does anyone have experience of the door/locking like something above? How do you find it? What should we specifically be asking for?

Sorry - we are due to meet with them tomorrow and would like some feedback before we make a decision on the styling.

Thanks again for any help offered.

    That's a nice a looking door alright.

Where/how exposed is the front of your house? If it is very exposed to the main street, than maybe a 5 point locking system would be best. But if it's any way private at all, I don't think a 5 point system would make any difference as it would probably be easier to just break the glass.

If someone is going to break in, I don't think a 5 point locking system will stop them anyway!

Cheers Ted. Very rural location, and then up a 200yd lane! There's gonna be a lot of glazing to either side of the door, so you have raised the same issue as my better half did-just a case of smashing the glass.

    Thanks again for the response.

I think you need 5 point locking for your insurance though. But surely all modern doors for sale will fit that? You need to check with the company. I see they are approved by the police so hopefully they are to standard!

Did you find an Irish supplier or are you bringing it in from the UK?
