We are heading to Tenerife the end of August and not quite sure where to stay. Ideally we looking to stay near the beach and all amenities but there so many apartments to choose from. So any advice would be appreciated

where you staying, area wise? island village in adeje is nice, 10 minute walk to the beaches & strip. quiet at night. we stayed in the oro blanco in january, hotel wasnt much to write home about but wasnt a dump either, around the corner from the strip so wasnt so quiet but cant fault the location, no cabs needed for anywhere. stayed in los christianos before aswell, too far out

We looking to stay in around las Americas or Los christainos area, just finding it hard to pick a apartment. Is Adeje far from there?

say los christianos is on one side of las americas - adeje is on the other. i preferred adeje to LC as LC was a good 25-30 min walk to the beach. both are on hills. LC was alot quieter than adeje, less bars there too

I taught it was the other way around. That apartment is sold out on alpharooms I must check other sites. Cheers for the tip

I have stayed in Playa de las Americas many times but usually in the newer end towards Los Cristianos. Have a look at the area around these apartments. It's a lovely part of the resort with an up-market feel to it (Not posh, just modern, clean & well planned I suppose).

There are lots of beaches in Las Americas. Right outside these apartments you have a decent sized beach and then just to the left (2 minute walk) you have Playa Las Vistas, which is much bigger. Here is what people say about it on tripadvisor. It also has watersports there too. Along the promenade are plenty of bars & restaurants.

There are loads of shops bars & restaurants around here to keep you fed & watered. You will find beer here from as little as 1 euro a pint. For nightlife, it depends on what you are looking for. There are bars, disco bars, irish bars & live music around here. For nightclubs, I think you will need to go to the Veronicas area which is about 5 to 10 minutes walk.

I've been to the main touristy islands in the Canaries and this is by far my favourite. I have recommended it to friends & family and they love it so much that they keep going back too. One friend has gone their with his wife & kids every year for the last 7 years! As the apartments are only 20 minutes from the airport, we usually book flights & apartment separately instead of doing a package holiday. It only costs about 20 euro in a taxi. Some apartments will actually collect you from the airport as part of the price.

Los Cristianos is a nice town too and has both a lived-in feel as well catering for the tourists.

    Good luck.
    JT.

Cheers JT are all these apartments privately owned or can u book them threw booking.com?!

About half of them are privately owned and the other half are owned by the apartment complex. The privately owned ones are cheaper to rent as they only clean them / change bed linen etc.. every few days, whereas the others have a daily maid service. You will probably find them on other booking sites such as holidayrentals & homeaway.

Note that there are 5 Parque Santiago complexes in that area. The one that I recommend is number 3.

Ideal location and they look lovely, but there don't seem to have air con & reviews sayin drink and food is over priced

I've stayed there at different times of the year and managed fine without air-con. You could enquire if they can leave a fan in the apartment. It doesn't really get humid, so you might be ok with a fan instead of air-con.

There is a mix of bars & restaurants around there. Yes there are some charging €20+ for a main course, and then there are others where you will get a few courses for under a tenner. I've eaten in both types and the quality was usually very good. Because there are so many bars & restaurants in the area, they have to keep the price down to compete with each other.

This tripadvisor link will show you restaurants in the area. You can exclude the expensive ones by unticking the €€€€ price box. Then zoom in / move around on the map until you find the 2 beaches to the left of Los Cristianos... The small crab shaped beach is the one outside of the Parque Santiago apartments and you have the bigger Playa Las Vistas next to it on the right. This will show you the restaurants in the area and you will see the price range... There are a lot of inexpensive ones there with good ratings.

    Henry,
I would use TripAdvisor to see what the general public are saying. It's not good. This area of Las Americas is known as Veronicas and while it might have once been the place to go for bars & nights clubs, it is now a little run down, in spite of some improvments being made over the last few years.

Seems to be a bit ran down alright! I think we would go with parque santiago 3 but there a few coming with us and there not to keen on a place without air con

Stayed in parque Santiago 3 or 4. Was quiet in the evenings and walking distant to both los christianos and las Americas. Would definitely stay there again if I were to go back.

Stayed in Santiago 3 a few years ago. It was more of a house than an apartment. Beach out the back, that big pool out the front. In the nice end of Americas and only a 15 minute stroll up to the madness (if you're that way inclined). There's some good surf on the beach around to the west of that location. Highly recommended.

Then maybe try some of the holiday rental websites such as HolidayLettings, OwnersDirect or HomeAway. On some of them you can specify/tick AirConditioning and you will only see those properties that have it.

    For example:

I'm looking at this place for a family holiday in July. Good value all inclusive on alpharooms.

If you are going for Parque Santiago, then I would recommend going for number 3. When you book through HolidayLettings or other sites like these, you are choosing a specific apartment and not just any apartment within that complex.

This apartment in PS3 has air-con

Here are all the ones for PS3 on HolidayLettings.co.uk

This is an agency that I dealt with and they were very good. They might have some with air-con.

Another agency that I have also dealt with are Ocean Management. Their details are in this tripadvisor post

the one there that sleeps 7 could actually be the one we stayed in several years ago. It was keenly priced and possibly too nice for a lads holiday, great craic!
