I've already disassembled the netbook, and I can put it back together afterwards. I just don't have enough soldering experience to do something this delicate. The connector is not much bigger than the head of a match.

If any boardsies don't want to do it, does anyone have any recommendation for a proper PC repair shop who would do this for less than an arm and both legs?

Or any suggestions as to where else on boards I could ask?

Has the connector actually fallen of the motherboard or does it need to be desoldered?

Needs to be desoldered and replaced. The internal pin (spigot?) has been snapped off. It's amazing what users can do when they put a bit of effort into it.

I'll order a replacement socket on fleabay as soon as I find someone capable & willing to do the repair.

Id be able to do it but im in Dundalk it would be worth asking in the console modding forum as a lot of console modders can solder as the best mods are ones you get to use your soldering iron.
