    hi,
not sure if I am in the right forum, moderator, could you please point me towards the right one?
I am organising a hen night and want to give the bride some fun presents from all the friends. the problem is thst I cant think of anything funny to give to her. she is a classy lady, so no kinky stuff. the only thing I came up with is a calculator, as she is an accountant, but thats not so funny.
may be you could help me with some ideas?
    thanks!

Are you sure she wants/is comfortable with getting presents? Hens usually involve the attendees going to expense to a greater or lesser extent. I'm keeping the expense I'm imposing on people down by just having a nite out locally. I'd be embarrassed and uncomfortable receiving presents.

I went to a hen before where we were all instructed to bring a 'fun' present for the hen. It was mentioned by a few people that they weren't impressed having to go out and buy tat and the hen just ended up with a bag full of crap that she threw in the bin.

Maybe she'd love the present idea though and I'm being a total killjoy but thought I'd just put it out there

Totally agree. I would have been mortified getting a present on my hen. Had my own in a local restaurant and on to a late bar. Between kids and money there just weren't the numbers to justify a night away so I wouldn't have expected a present.

My hen is in a few months, I would appreciate not being dressed up like a moron more than a gift.
Maybe make her a scrapbook or something but I wouldn't expect a present.

If you are thinking small things here's some I've seen:
Laminated "place mats" with baby picture collages in them used for the dinner out.
    Photos on iced buns
Lovely notebook with notes from all the attendees included in it
Printed photo album with pictures from childhood through to the hen

Agree. Not sure gifts are required.

the presents are required, this was discussed with the other girls going to the party, and the suggestions I get are expensive lingerie or make up, which I definetely dont want to do. thats why I was thinking to get smth cheap and fun.
scrapbook is a good idea, might go with that one

A small photo frame that she can put a pic of the hen party in.

A little tiny bottle of champagne with a bow on it for her to drink on the wedding morning (a snipe??)
If you wanted to go all out you could get one for the whole hen party to drink on the night - Marks and spencers have "Liebfraumilch" snipes for €1.49 each in bottles that look like champagne bottles. Tie a straw to each as a gift and then it is a fun prop to pose with in photos.

Tacky but I always think fun :D But the BIGGEST pair of granny panties possible. I suggest Michael Guineys. Size 26 or something
    :)

You can't buy lingerie or make up for anyone else IMO. The scrap book is a lovely idea, everyone can contribute photos and stories of themselves and the hen. I also think the placemats sound super. Something that costs more effort than money and will be a momento to keep always, not forgotten in the nightclub.

Most hens I've gone to, we've got presents for the bride. It's only a hassle if I've left it last minute to pick up something and was racking my brain trying to come up with something.
The good ideas were, a girly photo frame from the bride's cousins with them all in it when they were about 6, an appropriate headdress (cos it sounded lots like her new "married name"), a white and blue garter (cos the bride hadn't got one yet), T-shirt with almost nudey photo of her fiance on it (we weren't on the town on that occasion so no embarrassment caused, at least not too much), feather boa (not everyone's cup of tea but it seems a little special on hens :) ), travel diary (on a very long honeymoon for logging), and 2 photo albums - one with pics of girls from hen with the bride and written messages from the girls, the other with photos of of B&G through the years with the Q&A games used on the hen (the albums were given post-hen).

The other ones that were not necessarily hen material, but were nice pressies all the same, were lip gloss, ear-rings, pocket mirror, handbag hanging thingy, travel mug, feather fan...

The photo albums though I think were my favourite. So much thought, time and preparation went into that.

For my hen, everyone got me something and they were all put into a bag. Each present represented something that had happened between me and that person. I had to pick them out and guess who they were from. There was a lot of tears and laughing remembering the stories and explaining them to everyone else. The presents were very small. Some people printed out things, some people made things and some people bought something. But nothing cos more than ten euro. I have kept them all and love them and the memories they represent.

Shopped for a hen last weekend, got the following:
    • small yankee candle called "wedding day"
    • "Fairy dust" from Eason's (basically powder puff with sparkles)
    • A fan with pink feathers (cos out of all tack, I actually like this one :) )
    • sachet face mask
    • sachet hair treatment
    • sachet body scrub
    • bath bomb
    • single chocolate in a little box
    • heart shaped trinket
I would've got a mini-champagne bottle too, but ran out of time. Had a great time shopping in town for it all!
