Hyperpsin is almost dead...long live Hyperspin (I mean Hyperlaunch3)

So Hyperspin 2 looks like it will never happen. HS2 development seems to have stopped completely. Hyperspin 1 was great with it's spinny wheely thing and all but it's way to cumbersome and imo (not very pretty).

Hyperspin and Hyperlaunch were tied at the hip until recently (almost untied now) until Hyperlaunch 3 arrived with Hyperpause.

**Hyperspin is multi system Front End. Hyperlaunch is kind of a wrapper for your emus and HL3 now adds so much more.

HL3 (among other things) add bezels to most emulators, hides desktop and mouse, adds fade in screens, adds fade out screens, full desktop res screenshots etc...

You can even have instruction cards pop up over your bezels to show you controls for the current game.

Hyperpause allows you to 'pause' your emu to view artwork, guides, watch videos etc...

ofc...all this content can take some putting together but it is all there and well organised for the most part.

I've been playing around with it for a few weeks and had HL 90% done. Then I decided to ditch Hyperspin and use XBMC and Advanced Launcher.

With XBMC I can use HL3 & HP. I can ditch HS and have a lovely front end with a great back end.

Some pictures... (might do up a guide if anyone wants to know how).

**all bezels are from HL3 and not MAME.

    Hmm, looks very XBMC.
How does it look on a cab?

    Another XBMC view

MAME bezel from HL. Instruction cards are changed on the fly with a key assignment.

XBMC is being used here but it's all setup and working with Hyperspin. I just can't stand HS anymore.

I've every emu under the sun working with Hyperlaunch but am putting a much smaller selection onto my living room media pc.

I can see this working in a cab no problem. 95% of the work is in getting Hyperlaunch setup (well getting the media/content). The XBMC here is just my personal preference. That only takes an hour to do once you know what to do :)

Hyperlaunch is no longer tied to Hyperspin (other than requiring a bare bones Hyperspin install with no configuration). HL has been tested with Gameex also. afaik pretty much most front ends can run Hyperlaunch.

Ah, you're not running it on a cab.
Yeah for media machine or something like that it's fine. I prefer my Hyperspin to be on an arcade machine and hide that PC interface look.

Well this is running with no mouse. Totally controlled by keyboard (so ipac if you want). That xbmc skin has the mouse disabled.

Anyway, HL3 is the big part of this :) If you've got HS then you are using HL. Are you using the latest HL with Hyperpause ?

    In fact...just to show you.

Here is my current HS working off the EXACT same content.

If I pick that game it will boot up snes9x with the snes bezel (like earthbound in the previous post) and Hyperpause will run if I press a mapped key and I will have access to the guides etc...

XBMC is just the Front End in the original post. HL3 and Hyperpause are whats important :)

Ah yeah dude. I know hyperspin and Hyperlaunch very well indeed, so I know what you're saying:)

Unless it comes with convert_everything_for_me_instantly.sh I don't think I could suffer through another front end setup.

It doesn't for sure I'm afraid. BUT Hyperlaunch 3 has a much nicer gui and was about 10 times easier to setup than the original.

For the love of the gaming gods. Please write a quick tut on this. I have searched a lot of forms, but for whatever reason I can not get the answers to my question. For the longest time I have used XBMC to just launch Hyperspin. But I can't stand most of the skins for hyperspin that look so different then xbmc *I am picky*.

I am using Advanced Launcher but have no Idea how to set it up. I have tried to user Hyperlaunch.exe and use the params, all different kinds of ways and nothing every happens.

I am on Aeon Nox and use Hyperlaunch 3 (getting tired of hyperspin) Id like for the main menu of Aeon to have "Games" when you click on that it has all the systems, then when u click on the system it has the games.

    Thanks

This is the correct starting place anyway. You've tried just running a game from hyperlaunch on the system with xbmc installed to make sure it runs fine first ?

I actually finally got it to work. I didn't put quotations around the %romname%. A simple mistake someone does when they are tired :) .

Thanks for the great thread, after searching google for awhile, your is one of the few that mentions to do it this way and I am glad I found it.

    Glad you got it going.

It's great to have the advanced launcher front end with the power of hyper launch 3 behind it.

    HI Brianon,

I'd be interested in a little guide on this. Your set up seems to be what I'm looking for. Intergating into XBMC, to keep a small home entertainment solution together. However, when looking at the site for HL, it's still fairly new and looks like they haven't really done anything to get their message out yet for newcomers.

    A guide ? I wish I had the time :(

If you've any questions though. Ask away.

    Initial steps are...
    1. You still need a basic Hyperspin (plus patches 1.2 I think) installed.
    2. You need HyperLaunch 3.
    3. Setup and test a simple system in Hyperlaunch 3.
    4. Get XBMC installed.
    5. Get Advanced Launcher installed in XBMC.

This can be handy if somethings not working...https://sites.google.com/site/hyperlaunch2/home

Cheers for the link there. A lot more info on HL, than on hyperlaunch.net.

    Dammit :)

Not got much time right now but if you have ANY questions. Ask away.

You'll need Snapshots and box art to make it look nice in advanced launcher within XBMC.

Get your emu working in HL3 and have three folders with snaps, thumbs and roms.
