Just wondering if anyone can help me work this out, my sister has two girls has been renting for years now, lost her job last year and saving have just come to an end so she has now looked at rent supplement.
When I tried to work it out its looking like she wont be entitles to anything.
She has two girls and recieves150 per week maintenance- her job seekers allowance was reduced to reflec this so she recieves 172 per week.
So she has an income of 322 per week and rent limit for her area is 450..although her rent is actually 600 per month.
    Anyone help me? Please..

If she is paying over the rent limit for her area she will not get RA.

Example: if your only additional household income is maintenance, all of your maintenance payment up to €95.23 per week is assessed in full. The household income disregard of €75 applies to sums above this, so that any maintenance between €95.23 and €170.23 is not taken into account. 25% of all maintenance over €170.23 is also not taken into account.

    From here http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/supplementary_welfare_schemes/rent_supplement.html

She needs to get the forms filled in and let the dept decide.(after sorting out the rent of course)
