Took the electric fire of the wall and found this hiding, could it be used to heat the rads? I have a new gas system installed lately but was thinking about putting a log burner in then I found this! When they put my gas system in they took away the copper tank but there is still large and small plastic tanks in the loft. I will get a pro in to do it so don't need technical info just wondering if it's possible? Thanks.

That's an old grant solid fuel back boiler. When the gas was fitted the back boiler should have been left inoperable.Don't light a fire in this get it checked out by a plumber.

Will do, I know nothing about plumbing but I do know about pressure and realise this is a potential bomb so any work will be carried out by a professional, for now I am wondering could I use this along with my gas heating or would I be better pulling it out and just putting a small log burner in?

Also I had oil fired central heating before so whoever put that in probably decommissioned the fire boiler?

You cannot light a fire in that without a proper fireproof surround. ie a fireplace or similar.
If your going to then get it checked out. Stoves also need fireproof surrounds and a carbon monoxide alarm should always be used.

Please try in future to use a thread name that's a bit more specific, thanks

If the back boiler gets warm when the gas is on, it could be still connected to the system!(not properly though)

try to see if a small hole has been drilled in the lowest "bar" in behind those front panels with the tags.
