Should horse racing be banned?

    What do you think?

I would say no even though it could easily be argued that it is immoral. It would just seem to me to be a bit ridiculous to ban horse racing while continuing to butcher animals for the luxury of eating meat.

No, I would say, even though I saw the very distressing scenes of 2 horses being put down right on the finish line at a race course. Race was over, they were the last two and one clipped the other.
TO see these 2 fine animals, doing their best to get up, only to fall back down, canvas pulled round and then both destroyed.
Never went to races again and never will.

No especially not if they're nice to the horsies
I was always wondering about the whole broken leg = put down thing but someone unconnected to racing who works with horses explained the whole recovery process to me and how long it takes and how distressed they can get during it so I can understand that much now
Still I won't have much to do with the worse ones where there are a lot of falls like Aintree I think it is, and definitely no dog racing given the general treatment of greyhounds after

No, it's a much needed source of prime horse meat.

Our Connor there yesterday was a prized beast. He gave much enjoyment to others in life and now in death he is currently winging his way into next weeks lasange.

    A true public servant.

I stand to be corrected but I think its for insurance reasons that the horse must be put down on the track.
They just connected the carcass to a cable winch and dragged them into the trailer. I remember one small girl being absolutely hysterical.

Although it is horrific whenever one does have to be put down, my view is that these horses are given extremely good lives because of what they do and would possibly be neglected if people did not have such a interest in racing them. If the utmost is being done to keep the fences safe for both the horse and the jockey then I cannot see an issue.
