    So I have this headset on my bike and I need to replace it.

    Headset 42/286-IS42/30 Orbit FSA 15mm Ahead.

    So far I found fsa orbit cf carbon but im not sure if this one will fit. Based on these numbers is it possible to identify aby othe headsets that will fit?

    I have all the tools i need to replace them myself - just wondering if removing cups from carbon frame is same as from non carbon just need to be done more carefully?

    Also found these markings on the bearings:

    th industries 1-1/8 45x45
    no. 8b acb comp w campy

    It seems I did manage to find the same model.

    http://www.bike24.com/1.php?product=2844;dbp=0;page=1;content=8;navigation=1;menu=1000,4,40;mid=77;pgc=13477:13485::13439:15416::13476:13481

    My question now - is there a better model to this one - or am I supposed to use just this very model on my bike ?

    I still have the original headset on my Lapierre bike. Its 8 years old this year. I'm always surprised when i hear people saying they need a new headset. I have replaced the bottom bearing as it was noisy, but that's it in 8 years! (Bike does 8,000klm per year)

    What am i doing wrong? :confused:

    I'm sure mine is fine but a while ago I've seen some rubber peeling from inside of it - space between the cone on top and the cup. Not sure why it happend or is it a bad thing to happen or should I ignore it or what..

    Post a photo?

    It sounds like a rubber seal? If it is, I'd simply check the headset bearings every now and then, add some grease and leave it at that. This is something I do on an annual basis anyway.

    Couldve been the seal from the cone that sealed the bearing from the top - I'm pretty sure it was in fact and as far as I can remember I just peeled it all off as it looked crap with bits sticking out. But it's been a while and I cant remember now exactly.
