Anyone know if there are special tools required??
Are the pulleys on the cassette easy to get off or is there specialist pullers required?
Also are these pulleys keyed or splined... Or is it setup in such a way you can't go wrong(haven't one in my hands yet)
Any other tips or info appreciated.
I intend to do the seals aswell while there.
    Marty.

We have one here in a Tourneo, its due but I am in your shoes. Diff also whining and clutch going so I`ll have to get my head around it fairly soon, but I am awaiting someone here as well who can chime in on the belt.

    Cheers appreciate the reply.
I think from pics ive seen a regular bolt pullers will get the pulley off the fuel pump.
Im wondering if said pulley is splined or tapered or has a locator.

Also the wetbelt kit comes as a "cassette"..and when I made the original post I thought from pics it appeared to have its timing set if you know what I mean(the 2 pulleys come with it FFS!!)

Im trying to decide if its necessary to buy locking tools or not..if it is im probably as well off getting someone to do it.
    Marty.

I have a 2008 Galaxy 1.8 TDCI and it was due a belt change last year. I have changed many timing belts over the years and read up a lot on this one . On the 'Car Mechanics ' website one of the posters put up the Ford instructions - and having read through it I decided not to try my own.
It is quite complicated and I think that before doing one on your own you would need to see one being done first . It can take a Ford mechanic a day to do one so its quite an involved job .
I got it done by the garage I bought the car from - their mechanic was shown how to do them by a Ford mechanic .

Special tool you will need is camshaft locking bar , camshaft pulley removal tool , crankshaft locking pin , as well you will need torque wrench , the cassette will get will not have timming set in anyway. Fuel pump pulley is tapered on . It massive job to took me two full day to do first one . If you want see what job look like I have a video put up on YouTube ( just put ford wet belt into YouTube )
