I'm a thirty something unmarried male who moved to Limerick recently and I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to get to know new people here. I'd like to get to know a few people to socialise with every now and then but am not sure how.

    What are your interests?

If you could join a club or sport that was based on your interests, I would imagine is the fastest way to widen your social circle in a new place.

Limerick is a tough place to get to know people. Get involved in stuff you're interested in is my best advice. It's a bit of a catch 22 situation though, because a lot of stuff that's going on isn't well advertised and generally word of mouth is how people find out about things.

Like the previous poster suggested, it would be a good idea if you said what kind of interests you have and maybe we can then direct you ...

I don't think the OP is very good at interaction... Maybe he's found a shed load of friends in the mean time.

Tag is a great suggestion. Limerick is tough as most people grew up here or went to college here so already have their friends. It's much easier in Dublin where everyone is a blow in and people tend to make friends at work.

Thanks a bunch guys for all your replies. Not really a rugby guy unfortunately. Maybe I'll have to make the effort to become one now that I'm in Limerick.
Thanks aswell to Cully72 for pointing me in the direction of the meetup group. Looks like the easiest way for an outsider to meet new people here. Found another one maybe right for me. In case anyone else's interested it's, http://www.meetup.com/Limerick-single-social-group/
Gonna check these out and see how it goes.
