    Thanks for getting back man.
I honestly dont know if it's 3.55 or less. See its out of action for over a year. Need a new blu ray drive.

But thats an issue in itself as I have heard its costly to replace the drives. So ... in many aspects I would be better of getting a new console. But if I did that it would certainly be above 3.55.

Is the only 'hack' out there 3.55 or under?

So if you are on 3.55 or lower you can "hack" your PS3 by using just pendrive. If your FW is higher than 3.55 you can downgrade your PS3 to 3.55 (if its downgradable) by using special flasher. What CECH and Data Code has your PS3? You can find it on the sticker under PS3.

There is a new guy on here, providing a downgrade service.

Can I ask you guys a question? :)

Seeing as how my current ps3 is busted (needs new blu ray drive and am pretty sure it was showing a yellow light last time I switched it on over a year ago) Is it worth repairing?

Like I want to mod the ps3. So is it a case of shelling out the money to get it repaired or buying a new console and never being able to mod it?

I was doing some research the last while on ps3 modding. Am totally new to doing it with a PS3.

When it's modded you don't need the drive. If it's YLOD I wouldn't bother getting it fixed to be honest.

Also you can buy used PS3 and mod it or buy already moded unit.
