Laptop battery

I have a DELL Inspiron 1750 and my battery is dead.

DELL don't manufacture the battery for my laptop anymore. They gave me contact details for a service partner in the UK. Still no idea on price, etc

Does anyone know where I can buy a reasonably priced replacement? I've heard bad things about a few Irish based sites. Prices seem to be around €75-€80.

I see the same spec batteries on ebay for €25, but don't know who to trust or what I am getting.

That's what the feedback on eBay is for. Check how long they've been a member and how good their feedback is, higher the better. Then review the negative feedback in particular to see if the complaints are negative or just cranks, but also the positive to check for relevant sales. Weigh everything against price, sometimes you need to pay a bit more for a good seller. And check for shipping location, even if the seller is in Ireland or the UK, it could be shipped from China.

I generally use eBay UK for everything these days, with my parcel Motel address if necessary. EBay Ireland tends to be useless.

it's worse than useless because it actively blocks foreign offers when you log in.

Check adverts.ie too , but remember batteries die over time so a second hand battery will never have it's initial capacity, even if it's been treated properly.

in the linux world you can simply type acpi -b on the console and it will tell you what the capacity the battery was designed to have and what it has

windows just tells you how much the capacity has fallen since the most recent calibration unless you go to the command line when logged in as admin and powercfg -energy and start energy-report.html - ymmv depending on version of windows
