Look I know everyone is under pressure at the moment but I just seem to have hit a brick wall.
Self employed and over the next two months things will turn around with what I'm working on but just now it's so hard to keep food on the table and the lights on.

My wife is off off sick at the moment on 188 euro a week but I haven't brought in a penny in 9 weeks.

Is there any support out there for self employed people, even a loan facility to pay it back I don't want anything for nothing, so social welfare support or anything as I said I don't want anything for nothing but I need some support at this time and hitting that wall I can't see it, maybe it's in my face but I need just to be told at the moment.

    Cheers guys in advance

Did your wife apply for you and any kids to be her dependents?

Just for our son I didn't know she could apply for myself? They still only gave her 188 tho and she should have got more

Should I visit community welfare officer for the area? Or am I wasting my time?

I just wish there was more support for self employed people, a helping hand to get our fit off the ground, really are the forgotten people

She needs to apply for you but you might need a set of accounts. Did she not get anything for your son.
If your looking for work and available for work (full time) there's nothing to stop you applying for Job seekers. But once again you will need a set of accounts and bank statements

I Went for jobseekers when things dried up for me, I had no work for previous 6 weeks but they said they needed accounts from 2 years previous, which I gave them, they came back after another 6 weeks and offered me 27 euro per week which I turned down as I had got back working again, it's a joke of a system, its like they think that if you made 25thousand 2 years ago you still have it hidden under your mattress, but the 8 men I gave work to in the previous 6 years can walk in and get it straight away, it's a joke

It's very difficult, in this case I will not get anything as I am only self employed since last Oct and don't have accounts. I'm very worried where myself and my family will end up next but I'm not sure the system cares too much.
I never taught I'd say this as I wanted to raise my family in Ireland but once we get our feet under us again we will be looking to get on a plane and move somewhere the system supports people that want to work hard, take a risk and really give a chance to make a difference . Very angery and worried.

Needasloution if you are only selfemployed for a short period of time, then were you an employee up until then? If you were then you maybe entitled to Job seekers Benefit?
Have you actually been to your local SW office to see what your entitlements are?

The €27 a week was based on your wife's full wages and an average of your earnings.

If you get your wife to claim for you as a dependant adult and you child, there may be an increase. The max is €188 +€124 €29.80 = €341.80 per week.

Sorry that post was aimed at the op.

Op, sign on for jsa, you have nothing to lose, but for the time being get your wife to look into claiming for you and the kids.

My wife has been onto the social welfare office a few times but they have been anything but helpful, you'd swear you have money hidden away somewhere, I wouldn't be going near them only for I need help, we are trying to get to talk to a Cwo to help us
