Hi All , just wondering what traffic delays are normally like at the tunnel coming from the Fermoy side at around 9.15 in the mornings. I was through there last week on a Monday and it was very slow with a 1.5km tail back . Would it be faster to head down through Glanmire at that time of morning?

Where exactly are you trying to get to at that hour ? Could be a lot of alternatives.

Traffic can be heavy enough going through Glanmire at that hour. The traffic lights they put in, in Glanmire village causes a lot of traffic.

Heading to the airport, is there an alternative?

Only alternative would be to go through town. But you would still have to go around the Dunkettle Interchange, unless you go through Glanmire.

Better off biting the bullet and sitting in the tailbacks.

Unless there was an incident I would imagine most of the traffic delays would have eased by 9:15.

750 meter tailback this morning must be just the way it is every morning now, the city must be picking up because it wasn't like that last year.

There was someone killed near the ramp for Douglas West earlier. The Eastbound carriageway of the Kinsale Road Roundabout overpass is closed for this reason.

    Tis open again now.

The only alternative would be to head through Glanmire, into the city centre and out the South Link Road. Wouldn't give you much of a benefit I suspect.

Here is what the Dunkettle Interchange should look like in 3 or 4 years time though. Won't help you now but in a few years time... :D

Saw that earlier unfortunately.. it looked like some poor motorcyclist rear ended a Silver Nissan Micra (both heading East) and ended up on the West bound carriageway. Hence all the lane closures today.

    RIP.

    Folks,

Similar question to the one asked at the start, if you hit the roundabout about 9:10-9:15 what's the rough through time to the city?

Heading over to UCC so could also go Kinsale or Wilton way I guess...

If you are going to UCC, you're best bet is to exit the SRR at the Togher Exit.

Cheers, any idea what traffic would be like at the tunnel at that time of the morn?
