I have a lovely black woollen dress that I bought a while ago and have washed maybe 3 times since. Unfortunately although I put it in a cool wash each time, I don't think I paid enough attention when drying and it has gotten baggy and a bit mis-shapen at the front and looks terrible compared to when I first bought it.

Is there anything I can do at this stage to get it back to it's original shape?

There was some good info here for washing and shaping but I'm afraid I have gone past that point now :o

Wool clothing as a rule should never be machine washed. Even anything marked 'superwash', 'easywash' etc. Washing will destroy the elasticity of the fibres, pilling and in extreme cases cause the garment to turn into a solid piece of felt.

When necessary spot clean, air on a clothes line, sponge or if absolutely necessary handwash with soap flakes and dry flat away from direct heat.
