    Hi Guys,

I am currently looking for a "cheap" good replacement for my awful Silvercrest CRB 530 Lidl radio (radio from previous car owner).

No offence to anybody but this radio has no proper sound quality (you can't even choose folders) and is acting up as well when playing CD's, Mp3's etc (Radio reception is worse than any factory radio I have ever had)
Only bluetooth music streaming via smartphone is kind of bearable.

Anyway I have a budget of €150 and was looking at the following options in Halfords:

    Alpine CDE-173 BT €139

    JVC KD-R741 BTE €89

    Pioneer DEH-4500 BT €110

    SONY MEX-BT 3100U €119

All of them have bluetooth which is a must for me.

In previous cars I had Sony & JVC. Both were nice but the Sony radio was getting hot pretty quick.

I don't expect wonders (as I have only factory Blaupunkt speakers and no amp/subwoofer) but would like an improvement....:D

    Thanks a lot!

Would you not think about checking out some of the UK sites that specialise in ICE only?

I find you get A LOT more for your money in general

    Hi Guys,

    Thanks.

Today I went to Halfords as I couldn't bear the crappy Silvercrest anymore (it started skipping songs on it's own, volume adjustment failed on many occasions...).

Anyway I was torn between Alpine CDE-173 BT and JVC KD-R741 BTE.
In the end I went for the JVC as I couldn't justify paying €50 more.;)

This JVC unit has exceeded my expectations (installation took me less than 5 minutes :)). The sound is brilliant (loudness + bassbooster gives it the extra "kick")and it's easy to navigate through everything :D

I can highly recommend this hu for somebody on a tight budget.

    Cheers
