    Hi lads,
Worked in Dunnes Stores for almost 4years now but will be quitting in April as the exams and assignments for my Masters are ramping up and I don't have the time for both. I hope to have a job by September but would like to go on the dole from when my course finishes on June 13th til then. I know I have to have a legitimate reason for quitting a job for the Benefits officer, would they accept this as one?
    Thanks

I presume you will be studying hard and therefore not available for work.

Be available for and genuinely seeking work.

When I finish college on June 13th I will be free to look for work though which is when I would be looking for Jsa

You will need a letter from the collage stating your course exams ect are over.
If you have been working for 4 years even if it is part time you may have enough stamps to qualify for JSB.Well worth applying for and let the dept see if you have stamps enough.

thanks guys, so they would deem needing to study for exams good enough of a reason to quit?

    much appreciated

    I wouldn't go that far.

They won't deem that a good enough reason to quit. Reality is if you are studying for exams you are not available for work and that will be the reason you won't be paid. If college give you a letter stating that you are finished college and exams you are fine but if you have exams pending you won't be paid.
