Omar Epps from House too - trailer looks decent enough, and quite a different tone to the French one.

You'd think that you'd at least bother to read about a show before starting a thread about it. Seems pointless to do so. Resurrection is in no way linked to the French show, A&E are adapting the French show. This one is based on.a novel called The Returned by Jason Mott.

The show looks pretty decent and while it doesn't appear to be anything original I am looking forward to catching up to it once a few episodes have aired. Seems like a show best judged over a few episodes than it does one watched over a few weeks.

It's mad that such a similar theme would pop up though.

It's a pretty common set up, hell I have a similiar novel that I shelved after I read about both of the Returned,

    Was that Handling the Undead?

I watched the first two episodes last night and I have to say that I really liked it. It's played very low key - no car chases, gun fights, massive twists (apart from the obvious) and it's very well acted. Watch out for some of the camera work too - there is an element of polish here that you don't often get with network TV.

Since it's based on a single book, the question is what they do with the source material. Do they keep it as a self contained series with a beginning, middle and end, or do they go in a different direction to try and pad it out and extend it?

I watched the first 3 episodes last night, and I think the complete opposite. There was one scene in particular where the two 20 something girls were drinking wine on the back porch that I found the acting to be particularly wooden. I think the writing is hackneyed (old man gets annoyed and won't talk about it, instead "I'm going for a walk!" #stormout - and then the "exposition" in that very same scene was cack-handed and clichéd).

Another thing I don't like in these type of shows is the plinky-clink piano tunes that are supposed to tell you when you should be feeling emotional about the scene you are watching. When I hear those, I immediately start rolling my eyes - they are only slightly worse than the whiney "emosh indie" tracks that play at the end of shows like Greys Anatomy in the big "this was today's lesson" scenes. Pukeville.

There's an awful stink of Under The Dome off this - and I asked the same question of that last year - why do actors like Kurtwood Smith and Omar Epps take these roles, surely they are being offered better?

In my opinion we've already seen the best treatment of this exact theme with Les Revenants, and it won't be outdone.

Just finished the end of the first season and it was the best new show i've seen all year. Some great acting (especially from the kid) and nicely paced. The only problem is waiting until next march to see some more.

The acting from Matt Craven as the Sheriff is very good

Does season 2/series end well as it was cancelled?
