Commercial Tax

Not sure if I should be asking here or over in the business section. But here goes anyway.

Im thinking of buying a new car for my business. I'm sick of me or the other lad pulling up to a customers house in a work van thats full of tools and covered in oil and all sorts of crap and then getting out to find stains on good trousers and shirts and suits etc. So Im thinking of getting a car, something that's professional looking and something I can keep spotless.

I was having a nosey on donedeal and I found some great cars going cheap enough too. But most of them the engines are pretty big. Talking 2.5 and 3 liter petrols... so tax is a killer. Some of them are up at near €1800 for the year

Just wondering where would I stand getting a car like that on commercial tax? Is it do-able? Or is it only vans/jeeps that qualify? Was thinking something like:

That's why these motors are priced as they are. Crippling Road tax. No way for you to get around this on a regular car such as your link.

You could buy the 5 series touring (Estate) and change it to commercial. Thus cheap tax and a good looking car for the meetings.

They were selling passat estates here a few years ago already converted ,finding one will be like hens teeth. Its expensive to convert a car now,you might be better buying a nice jeep.Even Art dealers drive jeeps.

About 120 euro for inspection. 10 euro for weight. 100 euro for day's labour/ materials. 115 for DOE.

    Bob's your uncle.

Do you have to change the tyres to load rated commercial type.
