Damn that was close for both of them.

Very lucky for both of them. Something went wrong to have Skydivers and aircraft using the airfield at the same time...

Can't believe the article says the aircraft hit the parachute 75 feet in the air, the pictures clearly show otherwise...

It says the skydiver was thrown 75ft in the air by the collision not he was at 75ft when hit.....
During his third pass, the passenger side wing of his plane clipped a skydiver's parachute, cutting the chute and tossing the skydiver into the air about 75-feet above the ground.
Also I'm surprised that nobody has said anything about the age of the pilot, At 87 I hope I'm able to have a crash like this and still walk away....
The Polk County Sheriff's Office says the pilot, 87-year-old Sharon Trembley, a World War II veteran,

Actually, that sentence could be read both ways, either that the collision happened 75 feet in the air or that the skydiver was thrown up 75 feet in the air.

Either way, the pics show it wasn't that high, and if it had been the outcome could have been very different. That's the only reason why I mentioned it actually, when I first read the article (before seeing the photos) I was really surprised that the skydiver survived fallng from that height. The pics show it was much lower, but it's still very lucky they were relatively unharmed. Just glad they're both ok...

There's some suggestion elsewhere, well founded as the guy was involved in recovering the wreckage, that the pilot's medical was long expired and that he may have symptoms of dementia. Not the best way to end your flying days.
