Seems to be when it's cooler and at the start of a journey, it happens when I depress the clutch to change gear, best way I can describe the noise is the sound that a boy racers car does when it changes gear...if you get what I mean! Amy advice on what it might be and what it might cost to replace would be nice!

    Car is a Laguna 3, 2008 1.5dci 6 speed

So it's more coming from the turbo waste gate than the clutch, as they say on done deal serious boo ou of ih, if it's the turbo waste gate it's probably a boost pressure sensor fault , get it plugged in for diagnosis, if you hadn't of mentioned boy racers I would have said clutch release bearing.

Not sure there is a turbo on that model diesel? I initially thought it was the bearing after searching for similar, it sounds like it's coming from the gearbox. It happens as the clutch reaches full depression and I'm engaging the next gear.

There's a turbo alright. Nearly all modern diesel engines have a turbo.

A knackered clutch release bearing should whine away with the clutch fully depressed at idle.

I'd be checking the exhaust for leaks. Possibly the flexi joint.

Hmm yeah it is only when the clutch gets depressed...I'll double check tonight but I'm nearly sure it's not doing it when idle with the clutch depressed.

Is it likely to be more or less of a hassle than a clutch issue? It's going for a major service this month before the nct.

On a side note is there any point getting the transmission fluid changed?

If it's not doing it at idle it might be the turbo you can hear. Sound like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYUCkiG74fw

Probably a cheaper fix if it's the turbo than the clutch.

No point in changing gearbox oil really. Officially you don't need too. If you want too do it after 100k miles and with the correct oil. Fully synthetic gearbox oil is fairly pricey. A brake fluid change would be money better spent.
