    Hey Guys

we are looking for a cork based boarding kennel for our two, Husky and Malamute as we will be getting married and going on our honeymoon in late June.

Our dogs have never been in kennels but are fully vaccinated, we would want to check out the kennels and maybe let them have a couple of short stays before sending them there for 10 days.

the kennels need to be clean, secure and the dogs walked or given sufficient exercise in a secure enclosure but most important is that they are cared for.

our Mal is a powerful boy and walks very well on the lead but if something gets his attention (horses for some reason) he will test anyones strength.

I have narrowed it down to three but would appreciate alternative suggestions.

    Bestbuddies
    A1-K9
    Bed bath & biscuit

    thanks
    col

What side of Cork are you? North, South, East or west? :-)

We use a1-k9 regularly for our 2. They always get on great there.
You should go and have a look and they will very much welcome that.
As far as I know they will ask that your dogs spend a short stay there first before a longer one.
My dogs share a kennel when there, but they are smaller than your 2 - I have 2 collies.

I haven't use either of other 2, so can't comment.

Me too, please. Planning on a holiday later in the year and have never used kennels before.

hiya i was going to use a kennels and then heard of an excellent guy in St Lukes cork who takes the dogs walking to the beach and socialises them with his own dogs - i left my dog with him for two weeks and i can honestly say he probably took better care of him than i would myself and I take good care of my fella.

I just started a new thread, but realise that I probably need someone to pm me the recommended/not list from here. Many thanks.

Resurrecting this thread again as I need some recommendations please.

I'm looking for kennels for my two dogs. This will be my first time leaving them in kennels and I'm terrified!!! (they are 6 years old!!) I've had a couple of bad experiences with Dublin kennels in the past with other dogs, and as these are particularly nervous doggies I'm looking for a place which will care for them really well.

Can anyone recommend decent kennels - either near Cork city or West Cork - I'm prepared to travel to get the best kennels for them.

Also, someone mentioned one in particular to avoid - if someone could pm that to me too I'd really appreciate it.

    Cheers,
    Trix

Hi. Lorraine O'Sullivan Premier Dog grooming and Kennells. 086 3849000. Have used Lorraine twice since I posted here, once for a 3 night stint and one 1 night stint. She is based 2 mins outside of Carrigaline. My vet recommended her. Real dog lover. Hope this helps.

So I know this is a very old thread but just wondering if anyone has that recommended and avoid list that they could send on to me. In West Cork and need a boarding kennel for a husky in September. First time boarding him so want to make sure I pick a good one.

    Thanks.

My friend is very picky about where she leaves her guy and found Hedgerow Cattery & Kennels brilliant - possibly it's nowhere near you though because I only know how to get to Togher/Gilabbey Vets in Cork lol :o

Thanks will look into them. My main reason for wanting to know the one to avoid is there is a kennels about a 5 min walk from us which makes sense as so close and my mother can pop over if needed but if it happens to be the one to avoid then I will avoid and travel further a field.

We are flying from Dublin anyway so dropping else where in the county it not a problem.
