As most punters will know, there is no such thing as a sure bet. However,I have an idea which has been bugging me for quite a while. I am planning to do is put 1k in my Paddy Power account. Put 100e on ten different @ 1/10 odds on anything I can find. That's 100e profit a day. I know my soccer and GAA and the chances of a team being beat at 1/10 is very little. What do people honestly think of this idea?

Doomed to fail. Your plan relies on 100% success. Very easy for any soccer match to go against you. Even a drawn match will spoil your plan.

I remember someone doing that on a horse. €100k they couldn't really afford to lose, just to win a couple of grand profit. Horse was beat in a photo finish. Made the papers.

1/10 is pretty huge odds to be fair, even looking at the GAA tomorrow and I can only find one team that are at that price. I would think that how professional gamblers make their money is from short odds, big stake betting? PS: I can assure you I am not a professional gambler or even a good one for that matter

Anyone that puts 100k on a horse deserves to lose, really cant understand why people back horses, such a mugs game

I don't think it would be a success tbh. A pro gambler might put a €1000 bet on but his bankroll could take the hit if it lost. Gambling is about having good bankroll management and being disciplined as much as anything else.

If you have 1k that you can use for gambling, give yourself a % for each bet and never bet more than that %. Be disciplined and apply bankroll management.

e.g. Bank is €1000 and your % is 10%. Bet €100 at odds of 2/1 and win. Your bank would then be €1200 so your bet would be €120 and so on.

Gambling can be fun if you go about it the right way

Just on the 100k bet, a friend of mine got a sizeable loan to go to Australia and stuck the lot on some horse that was seen as a "sure thing". I'm sure you can guess the rest

Those kinda people make me feel normal. Just got thinking about gambling today as I watched my friend win 500e while sitting on his laptop and watching sport for the day. He backed Man Utd, Ireland, France and Chelsea heavily in singles and was disgusted with himself for only putting 200e on Chelsea and not a lot more. A nice days work for him

He had the same idea though, odds on, weak field "sure I can't lose"

True, same principle, never thought of it like that. Hopefully some day that will be me putting the 100k on :)

    How much did he bet?
How many weekends does he end up losing his whole weeks wages? You never hear about the disasters.

Genius idea, nobody has ever thought of such a foolproof system.

    You will make millions.

He had 160 on Man United and 200 on Chelsea, not sure about the others. He does tell me about the bad days but he is mainly into poker which I have no interest in talking about. Was just unreal to look at his paddy power account and look at all his bets during the day. Was a good day for him but he said himself that he will lose it all again, he lodged 70e to his account and he has it at that now, he wont be happy until he is back to square one however

A mug's game that a few can make pay.

Backing those 1/10 shots will lose your money a lot quicker than you think it will.

You're relying on 100% success as another poster said. You will lose.
