Contact Lenses For Playing Football

Hi, was wondering which lenses would be best for playing football. I will only be using them for an hour and a half or two hours each time.

I got my eyes tested for lenses about 8 months ago but I put off getting them until now. To be honest I'm pretty clueless about them.

My prescription says lens type is - Air Optix Astig.

    I'm looking to buy online.

    Thanks in advance.

I was in the same situation and went to Specsavers looking for ones to wear the odd time for a few hours. They recommended daily disposable lenses and I use their own brand ones that they order in for me.

If you're looking to buy online I'd recommend first calling into any optician and having it out with them, just to make sure you don't muck up and spend €40 on the wrong packs!

Hi, not sure if you've solved your question. Contact lens come in different base curves, diameter etc. You can't just order yourself. Ask your optician to recommend a daily disposable lens for astigmatism. You'll be given a few trial pairs. Once you've found a comfortable brand, only then can you order online.

I've an astigmatism in both eyes, and when I decided to get contacts for playing sport I went to Specsavers. I get their own brand of of daily disposable contacts, but I get the toric ones which are designed for those of us with astigmatisms. For the first lot of contacts you'd be better to go into an optician where they can advise you as to the best ones suitable for you and your needs. After that, when you know what works for you, you can look to buying online.

    Hi,

it is better to visit optician then buy online if you start to use contact lenses for the first time. Optician can recommend you best one, or you can try more types to see which one is best for you.

Then when you are happy I advice you to maybe start buying online.

Probably if you use them just to play football then daily soft contact lenses are best ones.

In most cases you will be paying a 50% premium by buying your lenses through your opticians. I found this out not long after buying my first 3 months batch. So, I requested my lense prescription and bought them myself online, through Getlenses.ie. I was paying around €120 at specsavers for a 3 month supply (including solution). I bought 3 months worth of the same brand at Getlenses.ie for €39.99 with free delivery (excluding solution). They'll also give you 10% off your first order and super fast delivery.
