    hey hey!
I`ll be making a trip back home from Australia in April. I`ve a friend over from the UK who has never surfed before. (I`ve surfed quite a bit). We have a long weekend and will be touring Connemara - Westport area. I usually surfed in Bundoran so wondering about recommendations for board rental and or lessons somewhere around these areas. I really want to minimise time driving as I`m not home for that long plus friend is only here a weekend. I do see a clew bay surf school but do the beaches in Clew Bay get any surf???

Try Surf Mayo, they operate at Carrownisky beach. It's only a half an hour drive from Westport town and is a good beginner beach.

No probs! As far as I know Fanore and Lahinch are your only real options from Galway City unfortunately. I think there is at least one surf school at Fanore and there's definitely a few in Lahinch.

Keel beach in Achill is another option from Westport, bit further than Corrownisky, about an hours drive I'd say. Enniscrone also an option, further again but still closer than Bundoran or Strandhill :)

The are loads of places to rent and do lessons in Bundoran. Donegal adventure centre, surf world, surf co and turf and surf are all the major ones. normally around 30euro a lesson including rental.
    Hope this helps

Not sure if its too late, but Dunloughan Beach in Ballyconnelly Connemara would get some of the best waves out west. Wouldnt have any rental though
