How soon before flight take off for a domestic flight?

I've a quick question here. On 17th March I'll be taking the last flight down to Kerry from Terminal 2 in Dublin. It leaves at 7pm. I'll just have hand luggage and can presumably have checked in on line, so how much time beforehand do I need to be there? Thanks for replies.

There is zero difference in security and checkin for domestic flights, so whatever the airline tell you is the minimum they'll accept responsibility for. I believe they say 90 minutes.

In reality at that time of the evening T2 is virtually empty however as its Aer Lingus Regional you are likely to be either boarding from a 300 gate (longer walk) or taking a bus to the plane so I'd still give it an hour before departure. You can checkin online and print the boarding pass or use the Fastpass terminals - which I have never seen a queue at even when its busy.

This is quite simply not one bit true. If you're a domestic passenger you're allowed to skip the main security queue and use the business/domestic fast track security lane.

That has been the case for many years. Aer Arann got the change some time ago (significantly prior to T2 opening) as people were getting caught in the queues in T1 and flights were being delayed.

Their argument at the time was that the competitiveness of their operations was being destroyed as the time spent going to the airport, queuing and flying to the various destinations was almost taking longer than other modes of transport.

The solution was that the DAA opened up the fast track to domestic passengers.

I did this in 2007, 2008, and 2010 flying to Cork.
Haven't done it since the t1 security moved to the left though

There was a little door to the right of the main queue door for domestic/business travellers

I can also confirm (working in DUB airport 12 years) there is a fast track for domestic and business travellers, its been available for at least 6 years now i'd say.

Thanks for the replies. So if I'm there at 5.30 for a 7pm take off, should that be ok? Thanks again.

They never made that particularly clear to domestic passengers, seeing as I've flown them (and Logan) domestic quite a number of times out of T1 - not since they moved to T2 though.

At 7pm there is unlikely to be a queue at all but still could be useful.

You'll have plenty of time to spare if you're there for 5:30.
