Going to be a difficult task to get a good mower for 4k I know from a friends experience, looked at loads of clapped out yokes and wasted a lot of time and diesel driving around looking at them

Bought a 10' Kuhn 300 a couple of years ago for a little over €2k working fine.

I have a 10ft Kuhn trailed and wouldn't change make for the world. I bought mine new about 10 years ago now. Its still like new though and expect it would be worth a nice bit still.

I dunno would you get much for 4k. id say you would want to spend 6 to get something decent for that sort of acres.

the minute your finished for the season wash her down and spray with oil and into the shed with her.

Kuhn seem to be good, I might stretch to 5k . I might even consider a mounted mower, but would prefer a trailed

the thing with mounted is that they can get strained after a long time as your lifting a lot of weight at one side whereas trailed the weight is always even as theres wheels in both sides,.

Mounted 10's with conditioners can be very heavy hanging off the side, if your considering it ya deffinitely need weight in the tractor..

And on the point of washing before putting it away make sure if you do this to give it a good run up to speed to get any water out/away from the bearings. Most lads with balers/mowers etc tend to stick them in shed dirty and wash a day or 2 before season then grease up, it makes sure water doesn't sit in bearings seizing them up over winter

oh yes of course run it for a bit after but I think its more important to wash before putting away for mowers anyway. any grass earth left on the mower will rot it.
