I got few quotes last year for 09 civic, and they were mostly between 400 - 500 (fitted and wired).

    Yes, new.
I asked in few places around Mayo.

You think it was more than it should cost?

Obviously it depends on the car like.

Got a hitch sorted for a 2004 Avensis. 115 euro for a hitch in a scrap yard and less than that to fit it. Maybe the Civic requires a few hours to fit it.

    God that's a lot.
Would I be able to supply one myself to a garage that's second hand

I eventually got my fitted in Poland.
110 euro in total for brand new towbar fitted and wired.
    :D

On micksgarage they've got towbars for your civic, but they are 288.
Add to this fitting and wiring - obivously if you can't do it yourself.

Seems expensive though, as towbars for my next generation civic are at 188.

I'm sure getting second hand one even from scrapyard would be much cheaper option.

Cost me about €1000 to get there and back.
So I'd say it wouldn't pay up to go there just for a hitch :D
