Scumbag Parents

I am just in from a quick trip to the local Tesco. What I saw has annoyed me so much.

As I was coming out the door a guy in his 40's was coming in with what I assume were his two kids. One girl about 4 years old and a boy maybe a year older. They were standing on the side of the trolley as kids do. They guy looked like an average Joe, well dressed etc.

Just as I am walking towards him he stops the trolley , gets right into the little girls face and screams at her "Get off the f***ing trolley" . The only way I can describe the scream is it was like he looked out his window and saw somebody breaking into his car and was screaming at them, it was absolutely at the top of his voice.I was really taken aback by it , as was everyone else that was there. Poor girl did not know what to do. She was absolutely terrified, I could see it in her.

Where do **** like this get off treating kids like that. If there is one thing that I wish it is that Karma is real. What a scumbag.

Fair play to him, I'm tired of little brats running riot in supermarkets when I'm trying to shop.

You should have done or said something.

Anything along the spectrum of asking him "do you want some help?" to "stop screaming and cursing at the child you big bully".

You went to the trouble of quoting my post but did you actually read it.

It was little Mary. A kid probably still in pull ups. Quiet as a lamb on the trolley until this bastard started screaming in her face. I get this is AH, and some of the replies gave me a smile, but you cant honestly condone this guys behavior.

The moment they're off the trolley, I dare say they will be! :P

I find tying one trolley upside down onto another trolley creates a safe environment in which to place the kids when I am out doing the shopping.

like others have said you don't know what problems this guy has, but yet you seem to think it's ok to label him as a scumbag.

For all we know he could have caught his misses riding his best mate in the boozer last night. Moved back to mothers and took the kids.

I've lost the head with my nephews and my own son at times. Stop being so judgemental. People and kids have bad days. People get aggravated. It's life, move the fock on and stop being so nosey.

If it warrants you to come moan on the Internet, why didn't it warrant you to go over to the man and say you think he's doing it wrong?

I dont care what problems the guy has, who has ridden his wife, how much money pressure he is under, or any other crap people seems to think is ok. There is no justification for abusing and scaring the **** out a 4 year old girl like he did.

Edit* - Just to be clear. We are not talking about him letting a little roar at the kid to get off the trolley. I am talking about him getting about 2 inches from her face and screaming at her as loud as he could.

Anybody that does that is a scumbag. Simple.

That's why you could have stepped in.

He may be a scumbag, or he may have a malfunctioning brain, or he may have been under an enormous amount of stress and snapped just that once.

Just like yourself, nobody likes the thoughts of that child coming to any harm. Nobody is disagreeing with that.

The point is, you have like 2% of the facts, and in that kind of situation you're not going to get the responses you're looking for in AH. Either report it to social services or accept it and move on. Because realistically, what else are you going to do?
