Invalidity pension

I got a letter yesterday telling me I won my appeal for invalidity pension. It has taken over a year between applying, being refused and attending an oral appeal to get this letter. Needless to say I'm delighted! Can anyone tell me will I get a back payment from when I first applied? Also how long will it take before I start getting paid? Will I be called in for further assessments by the department? I live in fear of that.
Many thanks for any replies or help in thid

I'm afraid you will have another wait while the Appeals office inform Longford about their desicion and Longford deal with that. Just sit tight if you can for a couple of more weeks or ring Longford if you like but I think they will probably not have heard from D'Olier street yet.
You'd want the. Patience of Job.
    Well done though.

Oh right thanks so much. Just what I thought. Honestly how hard can it be though. Even if they just sorted out the weekly payments ASAP that would be great. Think I will get onto them Monday morning and hound them. Thank you v much

Oh don't hound them Marines much better to stay on the right side of them. Are you getting SWA while your waiting?

Invalidity Pension would have received a letter about the same time as your did OP. They should be quick enough putting it into weekly payment. With regard to the back money.... if you were in receipt of supplementary welfare allowance while waiting for the result of this appeal then any monies paid on swa will be paid back out of the back money.... this is why the back money may take some time to come through.

Right yeah good advice. I'll just put a call in and ask how long I will be waiting. No I'm not on any SWA at all. My husband works. But with 2 kids and a crippling mortgage the bills have mounted up. Anyway it's great I've been awarded it so I'll hang tight. Do you know if it will be back dated? Will I get the payments from when I applied a year ago?
Thanks a million for the advice much apprecuated

No I haven't received a penny in SWA in the last year. Hopefully it won't take forever to sort out. Might be more straight forward considering I didn't get SWA. Well one can only hope haha!
    Thanks

You would have been entitled to job seekers benefit while you were waiting. Birng the letter in the social welfare and you will be entitled to this while waiting on a decision even though you are not fit for work.

Yes it will be backdated to when you first applied. The back payment can take a while, but give them a call and ask. They are generally very helpful on the phone.
