Can a geothermal pump / buffer tank be installed on the first floor of a dwelling? Any pics i see of installations are all ground floor / basements

At very early stages of figuring out ideas for size / layout / orientation etc for a house and at the min if pump was installed on first floor it would allow for a more even distribution of the UFH pipes around the dwelling as the utility on ground floor is located at one end of the building

Not gone anywhere near the technical end of the build at all yet, but would like to get a good idea of what we want/can have before taking the next steps.

    TIA

I've seen geo systems go into first floors, very rare thou. Added costs of running all pipes ,incl geo to first floor. Also a heat pump could weigh up to 400kg so getting up there will be more difficult. If it has to go in the first floor, then i would tile that hot press and have a drain in the floor.

Utility or central plant room on ground floor is best.

    As above ^^^^

No reason why not, technically, but add in NVH considerations for the pump.

NVH = Noise, Vibration & Harshness.

You don't want noise in the FF structure itself caused by the pump.

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
