Tax relief on college fees!!

I've had so much conflicting information about this so ive finally given in and reluctantly decided to annoy you good people on boards and hopefully get a definite answer!

So started a masters in September, have always qualified for full fees in undergraduate but with changes in circumstances I didn't qualify for the full amount for the postgraduate course. Anyway long story short I couldn't get a loan as I had very little income and in the end my girlfriend paid my fees for me, 5000 euro in total.

So the question is, is she eligible for tax relief on the fees?

I know that if it was my parents who paid it they could claim but because my girlfriend and I are not living together is she still eligible to claim relief??

    Cheers in advance

where did you get your conflicting info from ? Did you ask Revenue? - it seems straightforward enough from this:

I've read from the site you posted above which made me think she would be, girlfriend the tax office and the girl wasn't much help although she did say yes but was very unsure. Conflicting info came from the college who said that unless we were married she could not claim relief.

Thanks very much for the reply btw

I'd be almost 100% sure she can claim
