Hi all. Long time following, first time posting here. I'm building a timber frame house & I'm at the stage I need to decide on a heating system. What I have decided at the moment is a 750litre buffer tank with solar & stove with a back boiler & oil as a last resort all running my ufh & she. Anyone have this system in? If so what you think. All comments greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the system we are planning. My heating engineer thinks it works so I'm fairly happy with his advise. Have a wood stove also contributes towards the requirements for renewables.

I have LPG and solar on a 1000L buffer driving UFH over 3 floors. Going again I'd go for a smaller buffer - probably 500l. A stove may work better with a bigger tank but I think you may have too many mechanicals there. ....What is the stove running on ?

Had a lot of issues originally due to a muppet installer/plumber/electrician.

In hindsight installation and commissioning is at least as important as any equipment - found out the hard way. Simpler systems, better installed, give better results. Thank god I found someone who did know his stuff in the end.

I have a 8Kw HP (2Kw HP and 6 immersion), 300L tank, UFH with no zone controls, and 16pHw of PV

This works well as a combination
1 - in a Passive House there is no need for zones - the whole house sits at one temp
2 - the PV works better than solar thermal as in the summer solar thermal produces to much heat
3 - the immersion has never come on - so whole house heated + hot watered by 2kwH HP
4 - PV generated the same as the heating/hotwater used i.e. both are around 4000Kwh
