Ford Ipod Audio Issue

Just picked up a used 2011 Mondeo and I tried using my ipod nano to play music from. I connected it through the USB and the car picks it up and I can browse and select to play a track however I dont get any audio. I reset the ipod and connected an aux cable from the ipod to the car's aux input but there hasnt been any change.

Now I have been thinking the headunit might need an upgrade, which isnt that bad to do but just wondering if anyone has experienced the same and has any idea on how to resolve it?

If the upgrade doesnt work, I'll probably buy the ford ipod cable to rule that out.

Try sticking some music on a USB stick to check whether it's an issue with the head unit playing digital music, or if it's a connection issue with the I-Pod.

Haven't heard of any compatability issues between Ford's and I-Pods. I know BMW's require a different cable than the USB one used with a PC, but don't think Ford's do.

yeah I might do - as I said it plays the tracks on the ipod but there is no audio. I did a bit of digging and there was an firmware update in Nov 2012, is it likely this was updated by the dealer? I wouldnt think it would have been.

Has it been serviced by a Ford Dealer since the firmware upgrade? If it has, they should have done the firmware upgrade.

Can you download the firmware update anywhere, and load it up via the USB port? Remember looking at that for some car in the past, and it was user possible rather than just dealer. May not have been Ford though....

Yeah they said it was serviced prior to handing it over. Will try and get the firmware to try it out.

You need the special ford cable, you can plug in the usb and aux cable to get it to work! Same on my S-Max.

Might sound stupid, but did you press the aux button on the stereo after plugging in the ipod?

Yeah i'm going to try calling into the dealer to see if a cable will work, as they said I should know then.

I hear that it's a titanium, good choice btw ;) Does it have the standard sony radio or the big screen with that controls everything?

Well i know with mine anyway, you connect the ipod (with the special cable that comes with it ) through the aux point in the glove box, press the aux button on the radio and it works fine. Should be that simple. Take it into where you bought it or a ford garage and like you said, they will sort it. You have plenty more toys to play with till then! :)

Depends on the model - but it should be in the glovebox
