I booked a home delivery in the slot between 10-12, the guy has now 2 minutes to deliver all the stuff. 2 hours of a slot and they could pick any time to arrive within that 2 hours, but no, they're late and this is like the 3rd time this has happened having shopped online about 4 times with them. Ya pay the premium delivery price but yet they dont arrive till the hour afterwards (which is cheaper) and you're still charged for the premium delivery time. Ridiculous .

Thats crap, my delivery is always on time or I get a phone call if they want to deliver early.

You should complain and get the cost of delivery refunded at least.
    Tesco.ie Grocery
    Telephone 00 800 00 225533

7am to 11pm Monday to Saturday

    10am to 10pm Sunday

Did the driver give a reason?

The problem with 6-8 slots is the drivers shift. It Finishes at 7pm.

If he does not have time to deliver, and get home through rush hour traffic, you wont get the shopping. Tesco should not be opening any 6-8 slot because of this. They expect us to work on for nothing.

I am a driver . And we do our best to keep everyone happy. Really. But its hard to be in 2 places at the one time.

If you are not in from work at 1 min past 6pm then you may not get the shop because the driver has no time to wait. This pushes onto other customers time slots who are there waiting or his own personal time.

Most of the time lateness is caused by traffic conditions which are unpredictable. Other times it is caused by other customers checking off the entire shop to make sure everything is there. Which is unnecessary as the driver will nether refund mistakes or report them. Not his department. Customer services handle that. We get the odd breakdown and late pick also.

The one real problem for lateness is the website. It lets customers check out with out putting delivery instruction in. If your address is odd like

    Mrs Murphy
    Rathmurragh

Then the driver has to find a landmark. Point in a direction and start phoning. This takes a huge amount of time. And effects the next customers to the point where they will not get their food.

    The system is so backward...

The driver gets 1 min per crate to deliver , so if you live on the top floor of an apartment block and it will take 10 mins to deliver, the driver can judge it and drive on as it would affect the next customers or his finish time.

We are on time 95% of the time and nearly everyone is happy.

Feel the pride. If you're paying for a service, you should get it. You driving by because someone's shop is going to take too long to deliver is disgraceful.

OP, please make sure to complain. Sending an email with a scan of the receipt should be enough, after ringing to speak to the store manager. Also ask about their delivery policies in regard to consistent missed deliveries.

It clearly states on the T&C that if it is not practical to deliver then you may not get the shop. Taking to long to deliver affects other customers next on the list.

Most people come down and help in apartments as they would not expect someone to carry it all up .

Really, becuase I just logged into my tesco account, and went to the delivery page. The first thing that tesco tells me is that I can have groceries delivered to my door at a time that suits me. Nothing about suiting the driver.

Friendly drivers to deliver your shopping to your fridge door

    http://www.tesco.ie/groceries/zones/default.aspx?name=10offhomepage

Other store manage to deliver on time always.

If a driver is delayed and works over their hours, then they should get their time back, the manager should be able to ensure this.

I work in retail, often have a customer approach me just as was to go home and I have to stay for 30 mins, I just inform manager and they adjust me hours.

I can't see any reason why deliveries should be late or a customer cannot be called.

The main reason we are late for the deliveries is because some customers will not put in exact directions to their house which is really frustrating as it makes us late for our next drop and so on....we are on a tight schedule and it can be a pressure job especially when we are in places we are not familar with.

Anyway time for bed deliveries to be made in the morning bright and early :P

You may have caught me at a bad time when I posted all that. rough day with a bad customer.

The way it works . The driver get his/her run which has a route.

the route is worked out by a computer Nav system like your common satnav.
Then gets a few mins to deliver.

The time is all worked out so the driver arrives home at his clocking out time with a 15mins spare to unload and refuel. If a driver wants to work on, then its up to her/him. We work from 9am- 7pm behind the wheel , so its unlikely .

As for the T&C Mark. Clear as a bell.

Delivery will be made to the address you give when you place your order. We will deliver your order to the main entrance of the delivery address, where it is safe to do so, or otherwise as near as practicable to that entrance. At your request, our driver may carry your order into the delivery address, for example, to a particular floor in an apartment block or into your kitchen but only if the driver is satisfied that they have appropriate permission and that it is safe and practical to do so

If it imposes on other customers time slots. On a very busy day or night. Or one has a poorly lit building which looks in any way dodgy , scary, smelly, dirty ,gets any agro from an abusive customer, or to many stairs, then its not going to happen. Simple as that. You will be refunded if you dont get it.

Had one late delivery from Tesco and driver was very apologetic and explained there had been an accident on the road which held him up. on another occasion the store rang to ask if they could deliver an hour earlier to suit the driver which was not a problem.

If it does not suit you to get it early, you have perfect grounds to make the driver wait till your slot opens. Ball 100% in your court.
