Larry is 75+ and he can't even pronounce the names of most of the stuff in the charts these days.

It was telling that 2FM dropped the Irish Chart Show a few years back, and nobody noticed (No media coverage, no complaints)

Still, it's worth a try. It's a pity the new show doesn't have the exclusive announcement of the new chart, like the BBC has (The new Irish chart is already online)

With Larry moving to weekends, perhaps he could (in a no-way-like-Tony-Blackburn's-Pick-Of-The-Pops) rundown the Top 40 singles chart from this week in a particular year.

And the 'Just-A-Minute' quiz, of course. :)

That's an excellent idea! I like Pick of The Pops, it would suit Larry very well.

I think the singles chart ceased to be relevant at least 10 years ago. Even the BBC kinda gave up on it when the axed TOTP.

It's good to see a National Chart show back on the air again. If they had exclusive announcement and it was on at a more reasonable time I think it could be pretty successful. The chart show on BBC Radio 1 is still a very big show for them and there is a lot of interest in it. They do it on Sunday afternoon's at 4pm which is probably a good time. You usually here a lot of students revising etc texting in and following it while doing their work. I think Jenny Greene's show probably suited Friday nights a bit better than a chart show. But definitely still good to have one on the national airwaves again.

At the time the plan under John McMahon was to target older listeners aged 25+, So dropping the chart kind of made sense.

The chart is officially back on the radio lads.

I must've been imagining the very well done "Top 40 Oifiguil na hEireann" that has been airing on Beat and RedFM for the last few years

So far he has played half 30 to 16 (not all in full) and a quarter of the show time is gone, not sure how he's gonna pad out the 2nd hour

I'm looking forward to the day when Larry has Jimmy Magee on the just a minute quiz.

 No one said it hadn't been on local stations.

Mark is a great guy and a really good presenter who knows his music. Best of luck to him and I'm sure he will make it his own.
