What type of safari are you looking to do? I was in Rwanda last year but I wasn't aware of any safaris that you could do there but I was only there for 5 days so I could be wrong. We went Gorilla hiking and used a company called Bizidanny and found them to very good (www.bizidanny.com). Our guide was lovely and the vehicle we were in was well maintained.

Thought so - I booked with them and they get good reviews online. I was wary enough as you have to send over a lot of money before you get there to pay for the gorilla permits but everything went well when I was over there.

Gorilla hiking is class. One of the best things I have ever done.

The below was our itenary - we did two days gorilla treking which is $750 per day each plus I think our accomodation and driver was around another $850 each. It's not cheap.

Day 1 arrival at Kigali airport midnight and transfer to Hotel Chez Lando b/b

Day 2 city tour and visit of Genocide Memorial, then transfer to the north, to the Parc National des Volcans visiting the area on the way , accommodation Hotel La Palme b/b

Day 3 gorilla tracking in PNV, visit of the area (twin volcanic lakes Bulera & Ruhondo), acc La Palme b/b

Day 4 gorilla tracking in PNV, and transfer to Hotel Chez Lando b/b

Day 5 visit of markets and remainder of city tour, then airport transfer for departure at 13.50 (checkin noon)

5 days of transport in 4x4 safari Landcruiser with personal English-speaking guide/driver, airport transfers and visits, 4 nights accommodation double room bed & breakfast

Ah you get very close to them. Get to spend an hour with them and the time just flies by. When we were there both days gorillas would walk right by you. Your supposed to stay a certain distance away from them but if they move closer to you there is nothing they can do.

We combined the trip with a safari in Tanzania and beach in Zanzibar. Great trip.

When would low season be or is there any might take a bit of cost ?
Do you know if the Uganda gorilla trek would be any cheaper ?

i could be wrong but i think april and may is the low season, i'm assuming thats the rainy season though. uganda definitely cheaper, i think its $500 a ticket (per day) opposed to $750 in rwanda. my friends did both and said the uganda trek was a lot harder, the jungle was denser apparently.

our trip wasn't as expensive as jonnybravos but thats coz we were only in the country for 3 days to do the trek. the only place we could've lessened the cost was by getting a taxi to the airport on the last day instead of getting our guide to take us.

i used tripadvisor for all my info when researching as its a lot more up to date so you might find someone on there who has requested the same info as yourself.
