    Hi Guys,

Just wondering if any of you have been getting insurance quotes lately.

I paid 287 for fully comp on a kia ceed SW last year. Nothing has changed and im being quoted over 500 euro now and all the rest seem to be around the same price.

Has anyone found any good places lately for insurance?

    Thanks

This topic has been done to death in other threads. A significant number of people pay their renewal without shopping around so the insurance companies will try it on by hiking the renewal quotes for some people and if they lose a certain % of existing customers, they don't care as long as enough people renew at the higher rates.

Shop around, then phone your own company (don't wait until the day before your policy expires), mention the other quotes and they will drop their price. If necessary invent fictitious quotes but they will lower the premium, you just have to be reasonably aggressive but obviously not abusive, you're dealing with a call agent who is taking his/her prompts off a screen. As when buying a car, you must convince them that you're prepared to walk if the price isn't right.

its not the fact that my company doubled their price that got me. Thes the fact that every company is quoting 500 euro plus this year where as last year i had loads of companys quoting less that 400

i already rang my crowd and they dropped from 570 to 490

I'm still a relatively new driver, in that this is my first time my insurance is up (first year of driving nearing an end).

I know everyone's circumstances differ, and as do prices, but I found my average was in and arond 1100-1300 between Chill (who i was with), No Nonsense, QuoteMe, Quote Devil, 123, Campion, etc.

When I rang FBD directly, I got a quote of €870. Far and away the cheapest. When I said this on the general chat thread, another poster said he also got a great quote off them. Might be worth giving them a bell if you haven't already.
