Jobsbridge and annual leave

Just wondering if anyone could give me advice about taking holidays while on the jobbridge scheme. I've been invited to attend an interview tomorrow for an internship position...if I'm successful (fingers crossed!!) I will need time off, about 2 weeks, as I'm getting married in June and I'm not sure if this would go against me. I rang social welfare and was advised that it's up to the host organization but was just wondering has anyone else been in a similar situation and what was the outcome? Any advice would be really appreciated thanks! :)

They wouldn`t be very nice, if they didn`t let you take time off for your wedding, considering that they get your services for free :pac:

True. Though I would wait until you're offered a position before asking for the time off!

    28. Am I entitled to any leave during my time on the placement?
Yes, you are entitled to the following leave:

 Annual Leave – Interns will be entitled to all Public Holidays and 1.75 days
    annual leave for each month
that they participate on the National Internship
    Scheme.

I recon that if you intend doing the full 9 months you'll be entitled to 16 days off. If you do a full 5 days, thats just over 3 weeks plus all your Public Holidays.

You are entitled to the same amount of annual leave as an employee while on jobbridge.

Thanks everyone! Really appreciate the advice :), I knew employees were entitled to 1.75 days annual leave per month but just not sure if they would be happy about taking the days all together. Guess we will wait and see but feeling a little more confident about things now after reading your replies....thanks again! :)

I have been on a Jobsbridge scheme. My 'host organisation' were pretty ok when it came to taking leave. It has been calculated correctly above.

To be frank with you, if it comes to a hard decision between one of your life highlights (hopefully :D) and working for an employer that doesn't technically pay you and that employer doesn't show some lenience in the situation, you need to question if you really want to stay in employment with that company even if they offered you a job.

Furthermore, when taking a new role, employers take account of any prebooked holidays etc anyway.

I did get a paid position with my company during my internship. There was a nice culture and time off for one of my life highlights (baby) was not an issue.

The best of luck with the interview and the wedding!

Thanks aw for your reply, I definitely agree that I would question whether I'd want to work there if they weren't happy about taking 2 weeks off to get married. I'm just back from the interview and I mentioned about needing time off if I was successful and they seemed fine about it so will wait and see if I'm offered the position now :). Thanks for your good wishes aswell!!
