Minimum Service Void Under First Floor Slab

I'm going to be making a drop for a MHRV duct down through an upstairs walk in wardrobe into a sitting room. This will mean the service void under the concrete slab in this room will not need to accommodate a duct (horizontally).

Is there any practical way of creating a service void under the concrete slab other than the baton and counter baton method that uses up approximately 100mm of space?

    Hi Barney,

The void you would be looking for can easily be created with a "suspended metal framed ceiling" system. If you PM me your email address I can send you some photos to give you a better idea....(apologies for not posting them here, but I'm on the wife's iPad and I've photos saved on my own computers hard drive).

This is what I did and it worked really well - makes it easy to run in cables, ducts etc - and if your need additional cables then they can be "fished" across with ease (well fairly ease)
