Sky error 29

Hi just tried to hook up my sky box that I haven't used since last September or so and getting the above error message I have looked up various trouble shooting on line but most of it seems to be from sky customers so the techincans call out. I read in one place that if the box hasn't been used in a while they turn off the signal. Is this true?

If I buy a second hand box will that fix it or still have the same issue? I don't have a saorview tv so without a box there is no stations on my tv. I won't be signing up to sky and don't have UPC in my area.
Is there anything I could do by looking at the dish? I tried the power off while holding the back up button, the four lights came on and it said it was updating, but still showing the error.
    Thanks.

Sky can't 'turn off the signal'. If you have a 'no signal' issue, it is related to your satellite dish & its LNB & cables.

One possibility is you have bad connection(s) at the receiver & the LNB isn't getting power through the cable(s). Or could be a misaligned or damaged dish, water in cables etc.

Don't try software updates without a good signal being present.
