Checking crash repair work was completed properly

My car was crashed into a few weeks and I was not liable and my car was taken away to be fixed.
Problem arose today when I collected it. Opened the boot to switch stuff from hire car back into my own to find bits of my broken grill etc still in my boot from night of accident which they apologised for and took away. Drove car home and power steering felt very heavy but thought maybe I was comparing it to hire car but then I noticed that there's a part between the windscreen base and bonnet lip that's still broken from the crash and hasn't been repaired.

This now has me wondering if all the repairs they were supposed to make under the bonnet have all been completed. The garage have said they'll take the car back and replace the broken part, that it was an oversight but I'm wondering should I get another mechanic to look at it and see if they've done the work they're meant to have done (I have a copy of assessorss report and their quote which details all parts).

Anyway have any experience of this kind of situation?

Did you allow the other party to fix your car. Big mistake if you did. Id certainly have it looked at.

    Nope, went through their insurance!

But in a garage of your choosing? Its just the way you said that your car was taken away as if you were not in control of the situation

Sorry, I get you now. I thought you meant did a mate of theirs who had a garage fix it!

Car had to be towed so was initially taken to a storage place and then as it took 2 weeks for other parties insurance to admit liability, I initially had to claim off my own policy and it was towed to an approved garage of my insurer but work wasn't completed there until AXA accepted liability. The garage was a VW approved repair shop so I assumed it would be fine!

im with axa too...and when someone went into the back of me they sent me to their approved garage..the assessment was very cursory and I didn't want to risk them missing anything..so I went straight to Audi and insisted they did the work and do a full electronic check for ancillary damage (the bumper was visually damaged beyond repair) but I was hit while in gear so engine brake stopped me going into traffic.

Oh right. Standard enough procedure so.
I'd still get it checked professionally.

You can bring it to the aa and the will be able to do a full inspection. Not sure of the cost though

Having seen some "repairs" by so called professionals, I'd be looking for a proper inspection. Put your mind at rest

The worst I've seen was a 156 I got with a packet of dog biscuits for an airbag module
